Being a sport mom isn’t for the weak. You drop one off at dance, take the other to their basketball game, go pick the one up from dance and then rush back to try to catch the last quarter of the basketball game because of course everything is on the same days at the same time 🙃….all while toting your toddler in and out of places with you while you wonder how the heck you are going to make it when they are old enough and want to play a sport to.

Basketball game ends at 7:45, it’s a 35 min drive home…oh but the kids (and you) need to eat dinner. Guess it’s fast food again for the 3rd night in a row.

Once you are home you realize it’s 8:15 and now suddenly you need to bathe 3 kids, read books, and get them all to sleep in 15 minutes if you want to meet bedtime. (Spoiler alert…you don’t. You are lucky if they are in bed by 9:00)

You forgot that it’s Thursday and you haven’t gone over your oldest spelling words the past three nights because this is your reality and just where do you fit it in?!

I get it mama. I see you trying your best to get it all done.

We are trying something new for us this week and it is reading on the way to school in the mornings to get our reading time in and spelling words on the way home. It’s not ideal, but it’s what works for us as a sports family.

No we don’t get to sit down at our table every evening together and do homework and eat dinner….but we do:

-Get to watch our kids confidence in themselves grow with each play they make.
-Get to watch them learn to listen to other adults and follow directions.
-Get to watch them develop friendships and teamwork amongst other players.
-Hear the stories they tell about their game and see the pride in their eyes.
-Cheer them on from the stands and show them our support.
-Watch them learn about discipline, respect, wining and losing.
-Help them understand the importance of working hard to improve after coming up short

And that is what brings my mama heart joy ❤️
